Recovery after laparoscopic surgery is usually quicker than after open surgery because the incisions are much smaller. Most patients can eat and move around within a day and go home within one to two days. Some discomfort and bloating for a few days is normal. Return to work depends on the type of job and the specific operation, usually one to three weeks. The surgeon will give specific advice for each case and let you know what to watch for.
