Diabetes Care

Diabetes can reduce feeling in the feet and slow the healing of wounds. A small blister or crack in the skin that would heal in a few days for most people can become a slow-healing wound in someone with diabetes. Any new wound, swelling, colour change, or unpleasant smell in the foot should be reviewed early. Prompt treatment usually gives the best chance of avoiding complications.
