Preparing for an operation is easier when you know what to expect. In the days before surgery, your surgeon will let you know if any medicines need to be paused, when to stop eating and drinking, and what to bring with you. It is helpful to arrange transport home in advance and, where possible, someone to be with you for the first day or two after the operation. If anything is unclear, contact the hospital before the day of surgery rather than on the day itself.
